A Little Brag Post.

Everyone brags every now and then right? Well today is my day. Its day two of Drew starting shift work. Day one was okay. A little lonely. But I'm not one who needs constant go go go in my life. I actually prefer it not to be in my life. So oddly enough I am okay with being in a trailer with two dogs for most of a 12 hour day (besides church and the grocery store yesterday). Yesterday was pretty low key. Did some stuff but not too much. Made spaghetti squash for dinner at 8 when Drew got home and was ready for dinner. Fun thing about that...the propane when out as I was starting to put stuff on the stove top. So I adapted...and used the grill and microwave. In the end (spaghetti squash with grilled zucchini and sausage with a vodka sauce, grilled garlic cheese bread, salad, and strawberries) it turned out really well with several good comments from Drew on the meal.

Today I woke up shortly after Drew left (just before 6) to work on stuff. I started writing down things I needed to do...about 20 things. Its not 5 yet (about 2.5 hours left before Drew gets back) and I already have 13 done!!!

Made this blanket for Alison, Peter, and baby to go over the car seat in the cold winter. I couldn't pass up the cute little monsters!!This was from Sunday.

I have had this stone and paint since my parents came for spring break in March. I finally got around to painting it today!
So Vicky, being the weird dog she is, doesn't really walk up the stairs to the trailer, she just jumps. Well apparently her vision isn't comparable to humans because she didn't see the screen door was closed. *Note the shiny bottom part of the door...come on* She jumped right up, hit the screen, and came crashing back down. Two of the sides of the screen came off in the middles. So I fixed it today. With the only tool Drew doesn't have in his truck: a mini flat head screwdriver. :) so proud of myself.
Instead of square foot gardening due to a possible move (those boxes are super heavy!), we thought we would try cinder block gardening...not really sure its a thing. But we are making it a thing. Now the only problem...I cannot find the paper I wrote which seeds we put in which hole. Don't worry...its on my to do list :)

I know this one is corn!!! (I might be living in Arizona, but I'm an Indiana girl at heart. I know corn when I see it).

Most of the rest of the plants look like this. Except for the beans. Could be watermelon, cantaloupe, eggplant, and a few other things I can't remember right now and am too lazy to go find all the packets.
Okay well I guess I will try and get the other 7 things done before Drew gets home.

Oh a little info on how his first day of driving houses...err....haul trucks went. His mentor: Nascar (NOT his actual name, but IS his actual nickname). Drew drove 10 of the 12 hours. He slid some in the truck but recovered it quickly. Seemed pretty happy when he got home. Just sleepy. Who would be after 12 hours? I didn't complain because I was tired too.

Hope everyone had a great day!!

Why oh Why??

Why oh why do I wait so long??!!! Soooooo much has happened. The last post was forever ago I feel like. Let me try to catch up with everything. I will mostly use pictures because lets face it, they are much more fun to look at then read and read and read (even when Drew looks at our blog, he only looks at the pictures).

March 29. I watched Cade-monster while the boys went golfing and Cynthia taught piano lessons. The boy was only happy when he was outside. We walked the circle at the trailer park (which is pretty big) 3 times while he was here that day!!
Coming soon to a trailer park near you!!!
March 30. We watched the boys so Cynthia and Creston could tear it up at WalMart. And we did our laundry. Here is Drew (mister-I-don't-wanna-be-a-dad-and-if-I-am-will-be-a-bad-one) being an awesome uncle to the boys!!
Drew helping Camden up the hill on his trike using Cade in his push car. So cute!!!
The leaders.

The pedals on his trike probably went in a 4 inch diameter. He was spinning his pedals as fast as he could and going soooooooooo slow still!!! He loved it though!! And if he couldn't make it, just hopped up and carried the thing himself!

March 31. We went to Tucson that day (Drew calls it North Nogales) and is not a fan of the town!! We enjoyed lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings (it is impossible to have good wings in Greenlee county), a trip to Target, Home Depot, and Petco (or smart) to get the girls a dog run (the actual point of going to Tucson, but I enjoyed the other things better!!). On our way back we stopped at a winery in Willcox, AZ (the only one open past 5:30 on a Saturday).

April 1. A total day for jokes. That's how this set up went. What a joke!! I will never assemble one of these again!!! I think Drew and I each walked away from the task at hand once or twice. A true test of our marriage!!!
Before.
After several hours. After prolly hundreds of poorly selected words. After 20 sore fingers. After lots of sweat. After...you get the picture.
April 5. So excited that we get to go to the valley a day early (thank you Jesus for dying for us!!). Our dream was to have an extra day to relax since our valley trips are usually VERY busy running here there and everywhere!!

I even brought jelly beans for the happy occasion!!
But life had other plans. Drew got home from work and peed blood. So we thought a quick trip to the urgent card in Morenci would get him some pain meds and be on our way (from previous experience he knew it was a kidney stone). Well the little PA student freaked out when she saw his urine sample (resembling tea/coca cola in coloring) and told us that he needs to get to an ER right away...he could go into acute kidney failure. Being the awesome patient he is, we drove to the valley (about 3.5 hours) to go to the emergency room...and while on the way getting pulled over. A ticket for wasting finite resources later, we were on our way again. We got to the ER where Drew's mom met us. After waiting several hours, he got an IV (insert vomit here) and into a CT scanner. After that more waiting and the great news of "You need to be admitted to the hospital because the stone is not moving and too big to pass anyway. Oh and you can't eat/drink anything because you will be having surgery tomorrow. Have a nice night", we waited some more to get into a room. Well that was a transition room. So another 4 hours later (and a wonderful been up for 24 hours experience) we got into a "real" room. A few hours after that, he got taken down to prep for surgery. Then another few hours, he got taken into surgery. Not before I could snap this:
One of the many ways he had his hair net shaped while waiting for surgery.
We are into April 6 by now. Surgery went well. He got a stint put in and much to his displeasure, a catheter was in as well. Another night in the hospital was required, much to his argument. From first hand experience, Drew is not a pleasure to be around once the pain meds wear off and he is set on being out the of hospital but still has to be there. Drew on pain meds is one funny dude. I'll give two examples and move past what Drew calls the most horrible weekend ever. Number one: Drew had just gotten his IV and hence given his first round of pain meds. This made his head feel heavy apparently because the following was the conversation: D-"My head feels really heavy. I don't know if my neck can hold it up. Oh oh oh *head falling forward and then jerked back up* okay. I didn't know if my neck was going to hold it up!! I feel like a lollipop looks." The second quote from Drew on pain meds: *Night male nurse enters and first time seeing him* D-"Dude I'm not gay or anything, but your cologne smells really good. Where did you get it?"

April 7. Finally discharged. But much to Drew's dismay, not in enough time to go wheel and deal at a truck dealership. The main goal of the weekend was to get a truck in Drew's eyes. So mad.

April 8. Happy Easter!!! Lunch with Dan.This weekend we were finally bringing the girls out to live with us!! We were so excited to have them with us again!!! Abby loved the trip out. Vicky, not so much. We borrowed Dan's truck for the trip since he had more room then Drew's truck we had brought to trade in.
They are close sisters.

Abby loving being back with her dad.
April 9-13. A few random pictures throughout the week with the girls in the trailer. An adjustment for sure!!
Just your everyday, run of the mill bench press with a dog.

Girls going for our morning walk.

The girls have a friend. The donkey that lives behind our trailer gets right next to his fence when they are in their dog run. Its pretty funny!

What a train wreck! Abby stepped in her dish...twice. Spilling food everywhere. Vicky came in the for the clean up.

This his how they sleep. Wedged in-between the bed and the wall (a tight space) on my side of the bed. Weirdos.

Vicky hating the ride from Morenci to the valley!
Best friends/sisters!
The week pasted and we made the choice to go back to the valley to get a truck. Wheeling and dealing with the truck people is not my thing. Playing hardball makes me uncomfortable. But we got it done!!! So happy to be done with that big purchase!! Drew has a picture of the truck, but I do not (its like a first born to him...). I'll post hopefully within a few days instead of another month.

A date not spoken of: I found out Alison (and Peter) are having a boy!!!!! I am currently working on a petition to get them to name the baby Eli after me. If anyone would like to join, please leave a comment. Here is the tie blanket I am working on to cover the car seat in the cold winters of Indiana. Couldn't pass up on the monsters!!!
Love it!
April 16. Drew had the day off to get the stint pulled out. With no pain meds. Just went up, grabbed it, and pulled it on outta there. Glad I wasn't in the room. The best thing of that day (besides Chic-fil-a) was the phone call from Camden (age 3) that morning on the bluetooth in the truck. C-"Uncle Shrew (thats how he says Drew) I wanna say good luck today". Then later that day he calls back and asks about Drew's urethra. Best thing ever.

Night of April 16th: state taxes sent it. Drew is doing them next year. Mark my words.

Hung out with the boys this week at some point. Maybe Friday the 20th. They love love love the camera! And just being silly!
Camden on the camera looking at himself.

Super cute one of him!

Playing in Cade's crib.

Cade's classic head shake NO! captured on camera!

This would be awesome if Camden wasn't blurry!

Baby put baby in the corner!

Sooo cute!

April 20. BACK TO THE VALLEY AGAIN. Ugh. This was a planned trip to celebrate Nick and Jess getting married!!! And to see grandma Carma!! But the trip was getting long as it was our 3rd weekend in a row to go back. Carma was great!! So good to see her again. We helped with her new laptop so I hope she is reading this!!!
We got the truck with 6 miles on it and one week already got it to 1000!! Yikes. We drive a lot!

The wedding was wonderful. I didn't take my phone with me so no pics of the wedding :( The next morning was tough on me...open bar need I say more. But we made it back the earliest we ever have!! It was wonderful!
Vicky recovering from the trip.

Looking over their new barrier.

Rocking the camo!

Nancy made an awesome sling thing I saw on pintrest to help protect the truck from dog hair when the girls ride in the back seat. It works wonders!! And they stay in the back now instead of sneaking up to the front!
So that brings us to this week!! It has been super busy for me at the school. Found out some bad news this week about getting a house...they are on October applications. Ours is a February one...so we have a while to go!! It was a hot week here and I am started to be nervous for the dogs being inside the whole time.

April 25. Cynthia wasn't feeling well so I took the dogs up and watched the boys for a bit so she could sleep. They had a blast. What is a trip up there without one of the boys needing to see my camera focused on themselves???
Note the drool :)

Belly and all!

One last pic of the dogs.
Squeezing in for a good night's sleep!!
Well that is my time for the day! Off to work for a bit. We will now be battling a possible propane leak and possible fridge breakdown (leaking coolant and reaking???). Only time (and money) will tell where these recent curve balls will take us!!

Drew starts working shift work on Sunday. Bring on the 12 hour days and 12 hour nights!! EEK!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!
